Based in Appalachia, Batteau Books derives its name from the long, elegant river boats that have for centuries carried passengers and cargo from the Allegheny and Blue Ridge Mountains to commercial ports along the coast of Virginia. Like these boats of yore, our imprint carries today’s stories written by Appalachian authors to the world.
